Palawan, Here I Come!

This November, some friends and I will be having a two-day trip to Coron, Palawan.  Plane tickets were paid already so there’s no more turning back.

Right now, I am so excited with the thought that finally I am going to Palawan!  For the longest time, I’ve been waiting for this chance.

A self-confessed nature lover, I love the serenity of the sea, the coolness of the blue waters, the multi-colored “nemos” and other saltwater fishes, the scenic sunsets, the green valleys and mountains, and every other thing classified as God’s wonderful creation.

“Kakainggit ka naman.  You can afford to do these things anytime you want,” said a friend.  And I told him that it’s just a matter of time management and the will to go for things that you really wanted to do in this lifetime.

Sometimes in keeping our race for survival, we forget to stop and smell the flowers and bask in our respective small glories, so to speak.  Working too hard is not a crime, but not rewarding ourselves once in a while is.

After all, what is our purpose ba in life?  As what the taxi driver I had a nice conversation with the other day has said, “Ang importante, masaya ka sa ginagawa mo araw-araw. Kapag marami kang gusto at di mo naman nagagawa, diyan nagsisimula ang kalungkutan ng tao sa buhay.”

Oo nga, oo na.  That is why next year, I think I have to take that trip na to Hongkong Disneyland.  Remember that “dream list” I posted a month ago?  These trips to Palawan and Disneyland are (little) dreams coming true.

It may not turn out to be something I hope for but it is definitely something I feel I much deserve.

Saka Na Lang

Sabog ang utak sa kaiisip
Sa aking natuklasan
Di ko matanto kung ako ba’y
Matutuwa o malilito
O di kaya’y mababaliw
Sa iyong pagpapakatotoo…

Kay hirap sagutin
Ang maraming tanong
Na naglaro sa aking isipan
Ngunit tanggap ko
Ang mga katotohanang
Namutawi sa iyong bibig
Sumalungat man ang puso’y
Di ko na ito narinig…

Bakit nga ba ganito
Ang nararamdaman
Sa tuwing magtatagpo
Ang ating paningin
Sa bawat bulong
Sa bawat ngiti
Iba ang nasisilayan
Sa mukha mong
Tila may itinatagong saya
Kapag ako ay kapiling…

Gusto kitang hagkan
At pawiin ang iyong
Takot o pag-aalinlangan
Ngunit di ko matantiya
Ang takbo ng iyong isipan
Nakakatakot isugal
Ang ating samahan
Na pinatibay na ng panahon
Respeto at katapatan
Kaya’t naisip ko
Na siguro nga, oo nga…
Saka na lang.

Love Stinks!

I first heard this line from Adam Sandler from the movie “The Wedding Singer”.  It is actually a line from a song that most people find comfort from whenever love fails them to an unimaginable degree.

“Why do we always hurt the ones we love?”  This is another lyric that I initially find silly but if one really contemplates about it, it has its deeper merit.  Older wisdom says that love always comes with pain.  That if one decides to rise (not fall, according to a UP professor) in love, he should likewise be ready to get hurt in the process.

A friend shared a story two nights ago about a guy who was about to propose marriage to his long-time gf, only to find out that the girl was having an affair with an ex-bf.  I still don’t understand why some good people are cheated on but I do understand why some people cheat.

And I think the reason is only this:  They don’t love their partners enough to keep them from doing something that may put their relationship at risk.  That is why deep ties deadened by third parties rarely come back to life. If they do, the degree or intensity of love and passion would no longer be the same again.  When the seal of trust is broken, everything follows to the pit— respect, loyalty, love, confidence, hope.

Yeah, love sometimes stinks and people we love may still hurt us no matter how much we try to keep the fire alive.  When this happens, we should never allow anyone to treat us like a piece of sh*t.  Ever again.  Otherwise, we could never rise from the fall.

It’s not even what we call pride or self-conceit.  It is simply self-respect.

My Brods and Sisses

“Fyi, enjoy na enjoy ako sa mga blogs mo. Minsan, nagagamit ko ‘yong ibang phrases doon ’pag nag-aaway kami ng asawa ko.  Natatameme siya kasi kahit sinisigawan ko na siya, creative pa rin daw ang mga sinasabi ko…”

HAHAHAHA! When I got this text from one of my sisses two days ago, I really laughed my head off, courting quizzical looks from strangers inside the MRT.  You know what sis, comments like that likewise inspire me to open my Friendster account and write entries every now and then.

And I want to write this time about who else but my brods and sisses who I have considered my second family since November 18, 1989 when I was finally welcomed as an official member of the UP Palaris Confraternity.  Looking back, our bond sees me through especially on days I needed some reasons to be thankful and happy in this very pretentious world.

Here are some of them (in alphabetical order):

Jefran Baraquio: my brod who never fails to text back or call at once whenever I text him.  I have a 101 reasons to thank him for and that deserve another entry (sa birthday mo na lang, brod.. hehehe).

Alma Fe Valeria Bascos: my ever reliable doktora-sis who willingly lends me a shelter whenever I am homeless in Manila.  I am eternally grateful.

Alfred Bautista: my confidante and adviser on matters only an experienced and concerned brother has the authority to give an opinion about.  Example,  “How could I turn down a guy without hurting his feelings?”

Hapi and Christy Domingo: my pretty sisses who are also my loyal “blog readers”.

Yasmin Evangelista: my sis who knows 99% of my life story and never fails to make me laugh with her funny antics and punchlines.

Bayani and Rhodora Malicdem: my inspiration on still believing that “love conquers all”.

Gladys Paragas:  another doktora-sis who is my partner in crime on matters related to health and medicine.. alam mo na ‘yon, sis.  Hahaha!

Ronald San Juan: an epitome of excellence and intelligence.  I’m still a fan.

To my brods, thank you for being the brothers that I never had.  And to my sisses, thank you for giving me enough reasons to maintain this blog.

I’m Back!

I’m getting quite senti lately that I miss posting on this blog.  Well, I’m finally back with a vengeance!  I also changed my blog design and chose this blue template with a waterlily beside the main header.

My new blog layout somewhat evokes a tinge of poignancy.  But don’t be misled, people.  I just like the color blue and waterlilies remind me so much of my childhood.  We used to make bingwit the poor flowers from the sapa near the irigasyon where we used to catch those big red-tailed tutubi (geeez, how coñotic this sentence is).

Anyway, it’s nice to be back! Sometimes, detaching myself from something I love helps me realize its worth.  And how I missed this page! It’s my first blog.  Going back to where I really started gives me a certain sense of joy.

I guess it always feels good to be coming home once in a while.  More often than not, home is really where the heart is.

One Last Try

For the nth time, I tried fixing my blog posting problems on this site but to no avail.

Thus, I am temporarily closing this blog until Friendster approves (or updates) my request for privacy for this site.  I was surprised to find out that my Senti Queen blog can now be accessed by everyone.  So I deleted some of my blog entries due to the sensitivity of the topics.  I might be courting trouble, you see.

Another thing, since Friendster updated its Blog services, I find it more difficult now to edit, delete, or repost my entries.  I am having problems reposting the edited versions, thus, some of my grammatical lapses are now out there for all the world to see.  I couldn’t even delete or revise anymore those entries that were published in my old blog template.  Grrrr…

Anyway, to those who are religiously reading my blog, you may access my latest entries in my other blogsite http://baby0512.blogspot.com/.  My blogger’s life is much easier there because reposting/deleting/editing is never a problem.  Thank you and have a nice day everyone!ü
